Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I know if Iboga is right for me?

You who want to free yourself, find true healing, break your old destructive patterns once and for all. You have an intuitive call for the medicine or are looking for a new, unique experience.

  • Is Iboga safe?

Under the supervision of your Iboga providers Iboga is 100% safe. Your providers went through a rigorous training process where safety was the number one focus.

For more details about our safety process see Medical Safety.

  • How does it feel to be on Iboga?

Iboga will get you high, but never so much that you can’t walk or talk or lose sense of where you are. It’s a grounding experience, not a psychedelic trip.

You tend to feel aware and connected to yourself, your body, your life, and the environment around you.

  • Is Iboga scary?

Iboga will work with you the way you need to be worked with; never giving you too much. It will clear out traumas and fears with truth and gentleness.

Part of your first ceremony is creating a relationship with Iboga, learning how to work with it and building trust, so that you are ready to dive off the deep end on your second ceremony.

  • How much does a retreat cost?

Prices depend on the location and retreat type. Whether it's a group retreat in a 5 star resort in the Dominican Republic, or a private retreat in a cottage in the Canadian wilderness, our prices range from $1500 to $5500 USD per person.

  • 8 days is too long for me, can I do a half retreat?

If you have experienced a full retreat with us in the last year you are eligible to attend a 3 or 4 day single ceremony retreat.

Otherwise no, you cannot. An Iboga retreat has 2 ceremonies which build on each other. It is not possible to attend only one and get the experience you need.

  • Is there a special diet before taking Iboga?

There is no strict diet required to prepare for Iboga. However, we recommend a clean and healthy diet as much as possible leading up to your retreat. The less work the medicine has to do on your body the more work it can do on your soul and your mind.

    You can read more HERE.

  • Will Iboga make me fail a drug test?

    Not a chance.

  • Will I purge?

Some people need to, some people don’t. About 1/3 of our clients will purge through vomiting or other. You will not be out of control with it, you will always be able to go to the bathroom.

  • What is the difference between Iboga and Ibogaine?

Iboga is the raw root bark used by the Bwiti for physical healing, spiritual healing, and spiritual discovery.

Ibogaine is just one of the fourteen alkaloids that has been singled out and extracted from Iboga. It is used in drug detox facilities under medical supervision because of the potential risks.

Ibogaine is a clinical experience supervised by doctors used to treat the body. The doctors often haven’t used Ibogaine themselves.

Iboga is used in traditional Bwiti ceremonies lead by spiritual healers who have first hand experience with Iboga. These ceremonies get to the root of your problem to heal your body, mind, and soul.

  • What is the booking process?

To ensure a safe Iboga experience you will go through our intake process to determine whether there are any discriminating health factors or medications.

Afterwards you choose your retreat date, put down a 30% deposit, and you’re locked in!

  • Is Iboga like Ayahuasca?

Iboga and Ayahuasca are often associated with each other because they are both ancient, indigenous plant medicines, however the two are very different.

The Ayahuasca medicine is created by ceremonially combining two plants that grow primarily in the Amazon Rainforest into a drinkable brew or tea.

Iboga is simply the root bark of a shrub that grows in West Coast Equatorial Africa. It is ground up and swallowed with some water.

Ayahuasca is a female spirit. Iboga is the only plant in the world that houses a twin spirit, both male and female.

Ayahuasca has a tendency to be experienced as a psychedelic trip that uses abstract communication to give the user insights.

Iboga gives you a grounded, sobering experience with direct communication with your soul and spirit with the ability to ask questions and get direct answers.
