Every year I head back to the village to gather ingredients for ceremony and delve deeper into the Missoko Bwiti tradition. The Iboga medicine is a powerful healing experience, and to experience it in Gabon with a 10th generation Shaman where it was first introduced… Well you can’t beat that!
A One of a Kind Experience
Moughenda village is where I received my provider training and the deepest healing of my life. Our Iboga retreat in Africa dives deeper into the Bwiti tradition and the healing of this powerful medicine.
You will embark on a once-in-a-lifetime journey into the heart of the jungle, connecting to Gabon’s sacred people and ancient medicine.
The Welcome ceremony, Rites of Passage and Initiation are powerful ceremonies that can only be experienced in the village.

I’m interested, what’s the process?
First step is a full screening with me, then I talk with Moughenda and once he gives the green light you make a 30% deposit.
Once that’s done I will send you a pre-retreat package detailing what to bring (clothes, sunscreen, headlamp…). This is an all-inclusive trip.
Afterwards, you book your flights to Gabon, Libreville (LBV) and we secure your Gabonese travel visa and yellow fever vaccine. We will pick you up from the airport and drive you to the village where you will spend your trip and meet Moughenda.
Note that you will have full access to me during the process if you have any concerns or questions.
Welcome Ceremony
A true cultural spectacle. The temple fills up, extra chairs are brought out, and then it starts: dancing and singing and more from dusk till dawn. This ceremony is to welcome you to the village.
Rites of Passage
Symbolizing the passage from childhood to adulthood, this is a 3 day and night experience. The details of the ceremony are kept secret from those who haven’t experienced it.
Initiation
This ceremony is about becoming a member of the tribe. You shed your old self to embrace a new way of being. To live with two feet in the tradition, fully committed to truth, living the truth, loving life, knowing yourself, opening your senses, connecting with spirit, communicating with your soul, listening to your inner guide.
